I love Halloween. What I don’t love is how much candy my children have in their possession after Halloween. Which is why I take it and they only get about 15% of it. Now I know making cookies out of Halloween candy actually increases the amount of sugar available but these are cookies that I would make anyway. Instead of using chocolate chips I use a cup of chopped up candy bars. I am sure there is more sugar in the chocolate bars than chocolate chips but they are really good.
I go through the candy and I pick out candy bars Reesie’s cups Hershey bars. I’ll put all of them in the ninja and chop them up into little bits. Basically, I chop up everything in this recipe into little tiny bits.
I was introduced to these cookies by my buddy Tasha. They are gluten-free as long as the candy you put in them is gluten-free. I find them addicting which is why I have to make more of them basically every time I run out. They are made with oats and peanut butter so they are practically health food, right?
Recipe
2 cups of oats
½ cup of sugar
½ cup of brown sugar
½ cup of chocolate bits
½ cup of m&ms
¼ cup of butter or oil
1 tsp of vanilla
¾ cup of peanut butter
2 eggs
1tsp baking soda
- Pre-heat oven to 350
- Open all the candy bars and put them in a food chopper or you can hand chop them. Chop to the desired size.
- Pulverize the oats then mix in the sugars and baking soda.
- 4. Add the eggs, butter, peanut butter, and vanilla to the dry mix and blend.
- 5. Hand mix in the chocolate bits and half of the m&ms.
- 6. Press the dough into one giant cookie and cut it into squares with a pizza cutter because I am too impatient to individual cookies.
- 7. Add the remaining half of the m&ms on top and smoosh them in.
- 8. Bake for 10 minutes and check often so they do not get overdone. I like mine chewy.
The marbling you see is chocolate bar goodness.
Enjoy! What do you do with all that Halloween candy?
