Cigar Box to Jewelry Box DIY

There is a cigar store in Plano, TX near the Nebraska Furniture Mart. They sell the Cigar Boxes for $1. There is also a cigar shop in downtown Grapevine, TX that sells their cigar boxes for $1. Maybe it’s a cigar shop thing. There are lots of fun things you can do with a cigar box. I hope you enjoy the process of turning this cigar box to jewelry box.

I had this box picked out to make a jewelry box for my husband’s Aunt Doty. I wanted to use some of the costume jewelry that had belonged to Bryan’s Grandmother. The box being made of wood was a plus but I did not think it was pretty enough.

While I was spray painting the jewelry box frame I went ahead and spray painted the cigar box.

You can still see the wood grain which is think is pretty cool.

Clip on earrings can be used for so many things! I decided I wanted to use them to decorate the center of the box.

I arranged the earrings how I wanted them and took a picture. Before I added the resin, I removed the earrings. Hot glue could be used to attach the earrings, but I have found things that are hot glued can pop off easily.

I made a little puddle of resin and began replacing the earrings.

Resin is nice because it takes so long to dry and you can move things around. You would probably want to check on it after an hour or so to make sure things did not slide around.

The project was simple and can be used to remember loved ones.
