DIY Steampunk Hat

My mom bought some goodies at an after Halloween sale for 90% off. One of those items was a top hat. She bought it for my husband but that is just a laugh. When I saw a steampunk hat at Silver Dollar City I knew what I needed to do with that top hat.

My grandmother let me have a few things from her sewing room and I had gotten some lace. I decided to put a few layers of lace to go under the goggles. I have tons of cameos so I found one that I thought would work well. It was in a gold frame with a brown cameo.

I decided the back looked a tad bit boring. A small bow out of lace would hide the seems. I hot glued it on the back.

Materials

Top hat

Goggles

Three sizes of different color lace

Step one

Wrap the thickest lace first and hot glue in back

Step two

Follow with the next thickest size of lace.

Step three

Add goggles. Follow my goggle tutorial to see how I made mine.

Step four

Make bow.

Step five

Glue bow over seams of lace

Step six

Add cameo. Mine was a pin. Hot glue should hold it.

Now the biggest trick will be finding a place to wear it!
Where do you wear yours?
