As you may have read before, I cannot throw away clothes. It is especially hard when I can picture my sweet babies wearing them. This project is an easy way to keep parts of those baby clothes in a messy quilt. I call it a messy quilt because you just sew all over the place. No skill required!
There are a few pieces of clothing that all of my sons wore. There are also pieces that one them blew out their diaper after wearing it the first time. I keep them in a bag with other ruined and stained clothes bag. I keep adult clothes in the bag too, but they did not go in the quilt.
If the piece of clothing had a character or featured item I cut it out. The rest of the piece I cut into rectangular pieces. I used a baby blanket as a base and pinned the clothing around in a random design. I used the sewing machine to sew around the pieces and across others willy nilly.
Now I have a nice way to remember my boys when they were tiny.
Materials needed:
Old baby clothes
Baby blanket (thin)
Pins
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Step one
Cut baby clothes
Step two
Arrange baby clothes on baby blanket
Step three
Use pins to hold the design in place
Step four
Sew randomly until all the pieces are secure.
Now you can admire your work and remember all the cute little outfits and the memories that went with them.
