DIY Coloring book/notebook

In my experience, it is always good to have something for the kids to color on. I also have an oddly large collection of old school notebooks. I cannot throw them away because they have so many blank pages in them. I do like to write my ideas on paper and I used a lot of them when working on my dissertation. I still have tons. This project is a way to use some of those pages to make a travel coloring notebook.

I keep a bag of stained or ruined clothing. I use these for many projects. When I use a piece of clothing I put the remains back in the bag. I keep buttons, zippers, snaps, etc from the clothing in the bag.

It is really simple to make little books out of old fabric. You just need to be able to sew a straight line on a sewing machine. A big needle would work too if you want to sew by hand.

Materials needed

Cloth

Notebook pages

Step 1

Cut notebook pages to the desired size

*Remember your stitch will divide the paper in half like a book

Step 3

Cut fabric to be slightly bigger than paper

  • I added a little extra fabric on each side to make a little pocket to hold crayons

Step 4

Stack pages on top of the fabric

Step 5

Sew stitch up the middle of the pages

  • Sew little crayon pocket by folding over the ends of the fabric

Step 6

Give to your child!
