I get all sorts of magazines because I use points from various things. I (of course) feel bad about throwing them away. Which I suppose is silly because I recycle them. I go through magazines and tear out pretty pictures and save them for a later project. This is one of those projects. I used Christmas pictures from magazines and dollar tree wall hangings to make this easy DIY project.
This magazine had gorgeous images of old Christmas mosaics. I originally thought I could buy gold scrapbook paper to put behind the image in a dollar store frame. When I got to the dollar store I found these glittery wall hangings and I went with that instead. You may want to do the scrapbook paper because as you will read the glitter was messy.
When I opened the glitter wall hangings I found out why they were shrink-wrapped. Glitter went everywhere. I had to spray them with an acrylic spray which did hold the glitter in place. I cut the images I want to fit the center plaque. I was thinking about adding glitter to the image in certain areas but since the background is glitter I decided that would be too much. I glued the image on to the plague and mounted it back on the background.
I think my original plan of adding little embellishments such as small beads or glitter to the image mounted on gold paper would have been fun also.
