White and Gold Dresser Flip

My husband and I needed a dresser when we were first married. We found this dresser at some kind of store unit garage sale. It had been tapped shut during a move, I assume, and the tape was stuck to it. Several knobs were missing or bent. We used it for almost 10 years with some new knobs added and the tape marks removed from parts of the dresser. It was time for a flip.

My husband wanted to get rid of it but I thought it was a nice sturdy piece of furniture. We were getting ready to move and I thought I would like to redo several pieces for the new house.

I have removed the tape sticky from the front of the drawers but there was still sticky on the sides. I used the sander to get rid of the rest of the sticky.

I was going to paint it. I knew that paint would adhere better if the piece was sanded first.

I took off all the knobs and sanded the drawers.

I think I probably just did it wrong but the Kilz spray paint went horribly, as you can see. If you look at my dresser you can still see it.

Whatever I did here did not hide the primer mess up.

I wanted the dresser to have little pops of gold. I tapped off the parts I did not have to get gold spray paint on.

The piece already had lines carved in the drawers. I thought it would look neat if these were gold as well.

Knobs are expensive. I decided to just get wooden ones and spray paint them. You should always count how many knobs you need…

If you don’t count how many knobs you need hopefully one of your drawers looks different enough you can have different knobs on that one. Or you could go back to the store, not my style.

I have this little, tiny bedroom and I am okay with it because I have this beautiful dresser in there with me. Have you ever flipped a piece instead of throwing it out?
