Bead Clay Cameos
When I first bought my cameo silicone molds I was thinking I would just use it with resin. After I saw some bead clay in my craft cabinet I started to see that there were a lot more options. The bead clay I have was purchased on clearance and are not colors I would normally pick for cameos. It was very exciting for me because I could see the possibilities.
Bead clay is pretty tough at first and has to be kneaded to make soft. It is best to use two colors so you can see the face of the cameo. I filled the face portion of the mold with one color and filled the space behind with another.
Using clay is a different kind of fun than resin because it is more instant gratification. I did have to bake the clay but I could see what it was going to look like. If it did not turn out the way I wanted it I could simply start over.
While I do not think I can do a lot with the colors I currently have I am happy about the thoughts of using clay in the future. The other bonus about using bead clay to make cameos is that you can make matching beads for a necklace.
