Knotted bead necklace

I’ve been noticing these long beaded necklaces at stores. They usually have a $20 price tag. I always find this interesting since they are simple to make with beads and thread. I will show two methods for making your own long bead and thread necklace.

There are two main types of these beaded necklaces that I have seen. One method has a simple knot between each bead. The other method uses two strands of thread. One thread goes through the bead and the other on the outside.

Materials Needed

Briolette crystal glass beads

Thread or Knitting cord string

Step one

Decide on length. You need extra string than you desire for your necklace because of the knots.

Step two

Alternate sliding on a bead with tying a knot.

Step 3

Repeat until desire length

Step 4

If it is long enough to fit over your head, tie the ends together. If it is not long enough to fit over your head you will need to add fasteners.

Alternate method

Step 1

Cut two pieces of thread longer than you desire for your necklace. You thread will shorten when you tie the knots.

Step 2

Slide bead up one thread.

Step 3

Bring the other around the outside of the bead and tie a knot.

Step 4

Add next bead to the same thread the first bead was added to.

Repeat steps 2-4

This is a simple project to work on while watching tv and you can make them to match virtually any outfit.
